Invitation to our September Event

You are invited to hear:

ROBIN AITKEN

on

BIAS AND THE BBC

Monday, 11th September, 6.30 for 7pm

The Institute of Commonwealth Studies, 28 Russell Square, London WC1

During his 25 years as a highly respected BBC correspondent, Robin Aitken covered such issues as terrorism in Northern Ireland, the Chernobyl disaster and the Monica Lewinsky scandal. During the Iraq crisis, he was a specialist economics correspondent for the Today programme.

Now, he was written a book, provisionally entitled CAN WE TRUST THE BBC? which promises to blow the lid off what he claims is the institutional Leftism of the BBC. It will be the first book dealing with bias within BBC to be written by one who was an insider. It promises to be highly controversial.

Do join us for what promises to be an important and fascinating talk. It will be followed by a Q & A session.

‘Aitken believes that the BBC is the most powerful cultural force in the country – and therefore that its bias has a profound and sometimes malign effect on public life’ Damian Thompson, Daily Telegraph

‘He is a BBC man through and through. So when someone like this lifts the lid on newsroom culture, it carries weight.’ Melanie Phillips, Daily Mail

Please RSVP to Peter at prwhittle@btopenworld.com

We would kindly ask for a £5 donation on the evening towards drinks.
